The UIS baseball team split a series with the McKendree Bearcats over the weekend, dropping the final game of the series 6-3 on Sunday. UIS falls to 14-11 and 5-7 in GLVC play. 

Game Summary
  • The Bearcats got on the board with an unearned run in the first inning. UIS left two runners stranded in their half of the inning 
  • The second was a one hit, one walk, three strikeout inning for Adam Lindsey
  • Nick Melvin started UIS off with a triple in the bottom of the third. Mark Kattula singled to right field to score Melvin, then Mack Clark went deep to make it a 3-1 game
  • Adam Wibbenmeyer relieved Adam Lindsey in the fifth. Wibbenmeyer got two quick outs before walking two McKendree batters. One scored on a double, then two more runs crossed on an error before the inning ended with a strikeout
  • UIS did not have another hit in the game but left five on base as four Prairie Stars walked and one was hit by a pitch
  • McKendree found insurance runs in the sixth and ninth inning
  • Mack Clark led the offensive effort with 2 RBIs, one extra-base hit and two stolen bases
  • Adam Lindsey saw a season-best six strikeouts
  • Mason Graham entered to pitch in the ninth, striking out two-of-three batters faced
