The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team lost the series finale on Sunday to William Jewell in Liberty, Missouri. The #24 Prairie Stars drop to 12-7 on the year with a 3-5 GLVC record. Jewell improves to 10-7 overall with a 4-4 record in conference play.

  • Jewell increased their lead with a three-run, bases clearing, double in the fourth

  • Still in the fourth, the Cardinals hit another three-run homer to take a 10-1 lead

  • UIS cut into the lead in the fifth behind a Mack Clark RBI double

  • Drew Ezard singled to the shortstop bringing Nick Melvin home 

  • Johnny Wendling doubled down the right field line to bring Ezard home and make it 10-4

  • Mack Clark singled in the sixth to bring two more runs home

  • Jewell scored another run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly to make it 11-6

  • Johnny Colombo hit an RBI single in the ninth to cut into the lead, but it was too little too late

  • Riley Moran (0-1) earned the loss, going 3 innings and giving up 4 runs, 2 earned runs
