Future Plans: Work in state government or for a non-profit organization

Angie Quiroga Torres says she chose the University of Illinois Springfield to earn a “high quality graduate education.” On campus, she is co-vice president of the Research Society and a member of the Community Garden Club. She interns off campus at the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency as part of UIS’ Graduate Public Service Internship (GPSI) Program. “UIS was the only option that provided me with an internship from the GPSI office, which allowed me to get two years of work experience, while completing my degree tuition-free,” she said. Quiroga Torres says she likes the community, supportive professors and the dining choices at UIS. Following graduation, she plans to apply for job opportunities either in state government or with a non-profit organization. “My main goal is to address any environmental issues that are raised in the community,” she said.

Leadership is lived at UIS. Every day.
