The Public Affairs Center (PAC) is currently undergoing a multi-year infrastructure renovation project to update its aging plumbing systems and ensure its continued use as a vibrant space for academic learning, cultural events, and community engagement. The project began in June 2025 and will conclude by April 2027.

Please be advised that the UIS Public Affairs Center (PAC) Plumbing Infrastructure Repair Project has started. Therefore, the teardrop entrance to PAC is closed for the duration of this work.
During this time, SMTD bus service will only stop at the bus shelter next to Founders Residence Hall, located at Eliza Farnham and Vachel Lindsay Drive.

As part of the necessary plumbing infrastructure renovation project that has begun this summer in the Public Affairs Center, Facilities & Services is working in collaboration with multiple campus partners to ensure a smooth transition process in operations. From June 2025 to September 2026, several units currently located in the PAC will temporarily pause or relocate their operations to other campus spaces due to the drilling and pipe excavation activities.
Crews will be on campus beginning the week of March 9 to start work on a new electric vehicle (EV) charging station project.
Spring has sprung so outdoor work has begun!
In the coming weeks, the painters will freshen up some striping in the parking lots and the pedestrian crosswalks across the campus. Please use caution when driving in areas where painting is being done.

This newsletter provides updates on recent and ongoing construction projects, including the completion of lab renovations in the Health Sciences Building and exterior upgrades at Clover Court. It also shares important updates on maintenance procedures, winter safety tips, upcoming grounds projects, and recognizes outstanding staff achievements.
F&S will oversee caulking work at the Colonnade on Monday, February 3 - weather permitting.
Scissor lifts will be in use so the work area will be cordoned off for safety. Please use caution if you must travel near the work area.
