Please be advised that the UIS Public Affairs Center (PAC) Plumbing Infrastructure Repair Project has started. Therefore, the teardrop entrance to PAC is closed for the duration of this work.
During this time, SMTD bus service will only stop at the bus shelter next to Founders Residence Hall, located at Eliza Farnham and Vachel Lindsay Drive.

As part of the necessary plumbing infrastructure renovation project that has begun this summer in the Public Affairs Center, Facilities & Services is working in collaboration with multiple campus partners to ensure a smooth transition process in operations. From June 2025 to September 2026, several units currently located in the PAC will temporarily pause or relocate their operations to other campus spaces due to the drilling and pipe excavation activities.

Trillium Court Roof Replacement
Roof replacement at Trillium Court is the next major project for F&S. Henson Robinson will begin work the first week of October. The project is expected to take about 25 working days, but weather will be a factor that ultimately determines the actual timeline. Fingers-crossed for a mild, dry October!

Spring has sprung so outdoor work has begun!
In the coming weeks, the painters will freshen up some striping in the parking lots and the pedestrian crosswalks across the campus. Please use caution when driving in areas where painting is being done.

This newsletter provides updates on recent and ongoing construction projects, including the completion of lab renovations in the Health Sciences Building and exterior upgrades at Clover Court. It also shares important updates on maintenance procedures, winter safety tips, upcoming grounds projects, and recognizes outstanding staff achievements.
F&S will oversee caulking work at the Colonnade on Monday, February 3 - weather permitting.
Scissor lifts will be in use so the work area will be cordoned off for safety. Please use caution if you must travel near the work area.

Dear UIS Campus Community,
The university needs everyone to help minimize natural gas usage on campus through next week.
The university has been notified by its natural gas supplier of a high likelihood that a natural gas Operational Flow Order (OFO) will be issued. While UIS works daily to reduce its carbon footprint and minimize natural gas consumption, this week presents an especially critical challenge. Any natural gas usage exceeding the university’s contractual allowance incurs significantly high costs during an OFO.
This newsletter highlights upcoming and ongoing infrastructure projects, including a major two-year plumbing renovation at the Public Affairs Center starting in June 2025 and exterior renovations for Clover Court buildings. It also shares updates on lab modernizations, HVAC maintenance, space heater policies, scheduling changes for spring classrooms, and snow removal protocols, while recognizing outstanding staff achievements and providing contact information for various campus services.
