As part of the necessary plumbing infrastructure renovation project that has begun this summer in the Public Affairs Center, Facilities & Services is working in collaboration with multiple campus partners to ensure a smooth transition process in operations. From June 2025 to September 2026, several units currently located in the PAC will temporarily pause or relocate their operations to other campus spaces due to the drilling and pipe excavation activities.
UIS Bookstore Relocation to FRH
The UIS Bookstore has temporarily relocated from PAC 1120 to classrooms 153 and 154 in Founders Residence Hall (FRH), near the UIS Esports Arena. During this transition period, the Bookstore will continue to provide necessary course materials and other essential items to students and the campus community. For questions about Bookstore operations, please contact Kaitlyn Cook, UIS Bookstore manager, at k.cook@follett.com. Details regarding the Bookstore’s move back to PAC 1120 will be made available at a later date.
UIS Performing Arts Center Closure
As of June 2025, the UIS Performing Arts Center's venues are temporarily closed for 15 months, while ticket and administrative offices will remain open. Despite this closure, the UIS Performing Arts Center is preparing for several venue updates so patrons have an enhanced experience when the stage lights turn on again in Fall 2026. PAC Teardrop Entrance Closure
With the PAC plumbing infrastructure repair project now underway, the teardrop entrance to the building will be closed for the duration of this work. During this time, SMTD bus service will only stop at the bus shelter next to Founders Residence Hall, located at Eliza Farnham and Vachel Lindsay Drive.
PAC 1st Floor Access
With drilling and pipe excavation activities beginning on the first floor of PAC in June, please be advised of possible disruptions and limited access to certain areas.
PAC Water Shutoff
Starting at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, June 6, water service has been shut off for Towers 1 and 3. Water service is available for Tower 2 only. Towers 1 and 3 will remain without water for the foreseeable future.
Looking Ahead
F&S greatly appreciates our campus community’s patience, understanding and support as we collectively undertake this necessary improvement. This project is a necessary investment in the PAC’s infrastructure to ensure we have modernized and reliable systems for years to come.
Please watch for future communication regarding updates and other unit transitions happening on campus because of this project. For immediate questions, please contact Bob Mitchell, director of construction, at rmmtchll@uis.edu or (217) 206-6730.
