Annual Campus Fire Drills - Oct. 22 and 23
The annual fire drills for the UIS campus will be conducted on Thursday, October 22, and Friday, October 23. Please pay close attention to your building's designated assembly location, as some locations have been revised to improve safety and ease of assembly.
Fire Drill Procedures
When the fire alarm sounds:
- Exit the area immediately.
- Take personal belongings with you when possible.
- Lock work areas and offices, and close all doors.
- Use the most direct route and the nearest exit.
- Do not use elevators.
- Report directly to your designated assembly location.
- Remain at the assembly location until the "All Clear" is announced by UIS Police.
Please use the schedules below to locate your building's drill time and assembly location. Drill times are approximate and may vary based on radio station operations.

Individuals with Limited Mobility
In the event of an actual fire emergency:
- Do not use elevators.
- Proceed to the nearest stairwell and remain there until assistance arrives.
- If possible, ask someone leaving the building to notify UIS Police or emergency responders of your location.
- Call 911 or UIS Police at (217) 206-7777.
- Be prepared to provide your exact location and any information that will assist responders.
- If assistance does not arrive within 10 minutes, call again. Be persistent.
