Taiwan: Social Work Study Away Program

Program Duration: 14-17 days. Expected travel dates between May 15th to June 2nd of 2024.

Program & Course Description:

MAIN EXPECTED ACTIVITIES

  • Visit a night market and observe Taiwanese nightlife culture
  • Visit a temple; observe Taiwanese spiritual life and worship rituals
  • Meet college students and discuss and compare college
  • See traditional Chinese art at the Palace Museum
  • Learn about contemporary arts in Taiwan
  • Learn about aboriginal culture
  • Experience Taipei for a week, and also visit Tainan and Chiayi

EXPENSES INCLUDED IN PROGRAM FEES

  • Round-trip flights between Chicago and Taipei
  • Lodging
  • Transportation
  • Miscellaneous expenses (museum admissions)
  • Insurance

Anticipated the program fee is approximately $2,400, dependent upon international airfare. Course tuition and university fees are not included in the program fee.

Additional Options

  • Students may explore the option to link this program with other study away trips to Japan or China.
  • Students may stay a longer period in Taiwan for up to ten weeks.
  • Students may apply for a Huayu Enrichment Scholarship that can pay for lodging and Chinese Studies.
