What type of research do you do? What fascinates you about it?

I’m an ecohydrologist, which means I study how water moves through the environment and how it interacts with plants, ecosystems and people. My recent work focuses on cities, where water systems are especially complex. I examine how water flows through urban environments, how it’s managed and engineered and how people and policies shape its use.

Kyle Blount, assistant professor in the School of Integrated Sciences, Sustainability and Public Health at the University of Illinois Springfield, has been awarded a four-year, $397,498 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to study urban water movement and its effects on ecosystems and public health.
