I start this month’s newsletter with a bit of enrollment news now that we have passed 10th-day census. We are slightly up in total headcount (4,401) and student credit hours (+2.22%) compared to last spring. This is good news, and I thank everyone for their efforts in retaining and recruiting students. Here are a few take-aways:

Athletic Academic Recognition

On February 13th at halftime of the men's basketball game, any student-athlete (regardless of sport) who has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher will be introduced. The seniors who will be introduced have been asked to select the UIS faculty or staff member who has been most influential during the student's time here. That person will be introduced along with the student. If you are asked – congratulations! Please accept only one invitation if you get asked by multiple seniors.

The Office of Undergraduate Education is pleased to announce the Spring 2025 Engaged Citizenship Common Experience (ECCE) Speaker Series event schedule.  All scheduled events below are free and open to the public.

Faculty Course Survey App Walk-Through Session Feb. 3

The UIS Course Survey App was launched this Spring, beginning with Intersession courses. Full-time and adjunct faculty are invited to attend a walk-through informational session to preview your students’ experience in the Course Survey App. Plenty of time is planned for Q&A, and we welcome questions to help populate the Course Survey App FAQ. We hope you can attend this session if you have not already participated in a Fall 2024 session.

I am watching the snow fall for the first time this season and appreciating how our lovely campus changes appearance throughout the year. It has been a busy fall semester, and I hope you are poised for a strong finish and looking forward to the coming holidays.
