Student Fee Advisory Committee
What is Student Fee Advisory Committee (SFAC)?
SFAC is an advisory body to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs regarding the oversight of the Service Fee, General Fee, Health Fee, Student Union Fee, and Green Fee. The SFAC reviews fees on an annual basis. Changes to student fees reviewed by SFAC will be sent to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and then on to the Chancellor and/or Cabinet for consideration.
Have an idea for a UIS Homecoming event? Submit your idea on UIS Connection. Homecoming is set for Sept. 14–20. This year’s theme is “Written in the Stars”—a celebration of Prairie Star pride, connection, and possibility.
Springfest 2025 is just around the corner, and we need judges to help make this long-standing UIS tradition a success! Running from April 21st–26th, Springfest brings together students, faculty, staff, and alumni for a week of friendly competition and campus spirit.
Judges play a key role in scoring competitions, ensuring fair play, and keeping the excitement going. Sign-ups are open now through April 15th—we welcome faculty, staff, students, and alumni to participate!
As we gear up for Springfest 2025, we invite you to consider hosting a Bonus Event to enhance student engagement and contribute to this exciting campus tradition! Bonus Events provide an opportunity for students participating in Springfest to earn additional points toward their overall score while attending meaningful and enriching activities.

Please save the date for our next Chancellor’s Thinkers Series - A Call To Think: On Common Ground. Chancellor Gooch will be joined by Matt Van Vossen and Ryan Melchin, Class of 2011 UIS Graduates. Matt and Ryan will discuss how they navigated diverse leadership roles on campus, including leading the college democrats and republicans while sharing a dorm room. Matt and Ryan exemplify respect for differences and the power of finding common ground.
