Winter Weather Operations – Wednesday, Feb. 12

The Springfield area is forecasted to receive 2 to 4 inches of snow on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Due to the likely winter weather conditions, below is an update regarding campus operations.

Dear Colleagues,

As we complete the transition to our new Course Survey App (launched Intersession 2024-25), we want to let you know of an important deadline for accessing historical course evaluation student comments (Fall 2024 and earlier).

The following 2025 Commencement message was emailed to all UIS students on Tuesday, Feb. 4:

Dear students,

Planning is underway for the 2025 Commencement Ceremonies! All critical commencement information will arrive via your uis.edu email, so check your inbox frequently. You can also check the Commencement website for updates: uis.edu/commencement.

Commencement Ceremonies

This year, three commencement ceremonies (divided by college) will be held in Sangamon Auditorium in the UIS Performing Arts Center on the UIS Campus as noted below:

The 18th Annual CARE Award

  • The Chancellor’s Award to Recognize Excellence in Civil Service

The 22nd Annual CAPE Award

  • The Chancellor’s Academic Professional Excellence Award

Four Additional Staff Awards:

  • Orion Award (for impact on students)
  • Polaris Award (for staff leadership)
  • Nova Award (for new employees)
  • Sirius Award (for shining attitude and performance)

F&S will oversee caulking work at the Colonnade on Monday, February 3 - weather permitting.

Scissor lifts will be in use so the work area will be cordoned off for safety. Please use caution if you must travel near the work area.

As always, your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated as we work to maintain our campus facilities.

Dear University of Illinois System community,

Across the University of Illinois System, your chancellors and our deep roster of experts are diligently monitoring and evaluating proposed changes in federal funding, White House executive orders, and directives from the federal Office of Management and Budget for impact on our universities.

Colleagues,

Please join us for the Open Forums featuring candidates for the position of Director of the Access & Equity Office and Title IX Coordinator. Instead of a formal presentation, the forums will follow an open Q&A format. I will begin each session by asking the same two questions to each candidate, after which the floor will be open for questions from attendees.

Both Open Forums will be held in Brookens Auditorium:

In an effort to improve building security, ITS Client Services (located in the lower level of Brookens Library) will not be available for in-person visits until 9am Monday through Friday. We will still be available for phone/chat/email support and by appointment for in-person visits from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
