UIS Library December News and Events
As we close out the end of the year, the library has new events and resources available for students! We’re offering several types of research help for finals, as well as extended hours and an event to give you a study break.
Dear students, faculty and staff:
The University of Illinois Springfield is excited to team up with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for a special game day experience! UIS students, staff, families and friends can take advantage of a special ticket price to cheer on the Fighting Illini as they take on Northwestern for Senior Day, Saturday, Nov. 29. Tickets are just $10 and include seats in the general admission student section at Gies Memorial Stadium.
As finals and the end of the semester approaches, the library is offering new events and
resources to help support students. Whether it’s attending our book club, our paint and
create event, or getting research help, we have something to support everyone.
Overbooked Book Club
Do you want somewhere to be able to talk about what you’re reading? Need new book

Campus community,
UIS students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in the 2025 University of Illinois Springfield University Experience Survey. This study is vital for understanding our university and guiding initiatives to create an even better environment for our entire community.
The Cox Children’s Center and the Volunteer and Civic Engagement Center are once again hosting Trunk or Treat for Canned Goods. Please sign up to participate in this year’s event which is being held on Friday, October 31, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Setup can start earlier. This year's event will be held in Parking Lot B (Adjacent to WUIS and SLB).
All donations directly benefit the UIS Cares Food Pantry located right here on our campus. Register your department, get creative, visit with the kids from the Cox Children’s Center in their costumes, and help support our UIS students.
Dear UIS Community Members:
Maintaining a safe campus is an important responsibility the entire UIS community takes seriously.
Greetings Campus Community,
The roofing contractor will have a crane on site on Friday, Sept. 19 to remove roofing debris off of Founders Residence Hall. The crane will be positioned on the west side of Founders, just off Eliza Farnham Drive. The bus stop on that corner will remain open and accessible. The red rectangle on the included image indicates the approximate location for the crane.
Please use caution if you need to travel near the residence hall. Construction zones and equipment placement areas will be marked to assist with navigation and ensure safety.
Greetings Campus Community,
Please be advised that the Springfield Fire Department will perform a fire training simulation at the Sunflower 700 Building beginning Tuesday, September 16 and continuing through Friday, September 19.
As part of the training, theatrical smoke will be used to simulate realistic fire conditions. This may be visible in and around the building during the training period.
