The Professional Staff Leadership Academy is a system-wide leadership program meant to foster and sustain a culture of exceptional, dynamic, and transformational leadership at all levels throughout the University of Illinois System. This program for academic professional and professional civil service employees includes a robust group of dynamic speakers, engaging and interactive leadership activities, facility tours, state legislative education, relevant literature reviews, system-wide networking, and a mentor program.

Promising Prairie Star Recognition Program

We are pleased to announce our new Promising Prairie Star Recognition Program!

The Promising Prairie Star Recognition Program honors outstanding graduates under the age of forty or those who have graduated within the previous 5 years. Honorees are selected for their emerging and unique innovation, creativity and success in their chosen career and/or life's work. Established by the UIS Young Alumni Committee in 2024, the inaugural class of honorees will be selected and recognized in the Spring of 2025. 

Mental Health Awareness

Dear Faculty and Staff —

It is that time in the year when the number of people struggling with their mental health typically increases. Common themes include stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and difficulties with interpersonal relationships. Though these struggles are often expressed at the individual level, they often arise from systemic issues in our environment and culture. We all have an opportunity to create a supportive environment for learning and growth.

Getting to Know You: Krystal Geist

Krystal Geist is the associate director of alumni and donor engagement.

What do you like about your job?

Working in advancement, I get the opportunity to meet many alumni and community members who are passionate about UIS. My favorite part of my job is getting to know all the wonderful people who support our university. Everyone has a unique story, and it’s very inspiring to see how UIS has impacted so many lives. It makes me proud to work for such a great university.

Getting to Know You: Jason Kosowski

Jason Kosowski is the IT technical associate (LS) for Human Resources.

What do you like about your job?

I get to work with people who care about the work they do and are great team members. I also have the opportunity to get involved in many different aspects of the university, participating in several committees from customer service improvements to AI ethics. The ability to work on a variety of projects and use my problem-solving skills is very important to me.
