Dear UIS Colleagues —

It is National Volunteer Month, and I am always excited to see how dedicated our university is to serving the community and each other. This week, volunteers have the fun task of assisting and judging Springfest activities. Many of you have committed to volunteering for one or both of the upcoming UIS Commencement ceremonies in May. If you’re still looking for a volunteer activity this month, the UIS Volunteer & Civic Engagement Center has many opportunities available.

The University of Illinois Springfield is making changes to its COVID-19 testing policy.

Starting April 11, employees, faculty, staff, and long-term guests who have not yet been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will only have to test once per week.

Previously, they had to get tested twice per week.

Testing is optional for those who are up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccine.

Changes are also being made to the hours of operation of the SHIELD saliva-based testing site.

DUNS Number will change to Unique Entity ID (UEI). Contracts, grant applications, and other external documents will begin requesting the UIS ‘UEI’ instead of the DUNS number, beginning April 4, 2022. UIS UEIs are available on the ORSP webpage: https://www.uis.edu/research/sponsored-programs/pre-award/rates-fa/. Just like the DUNS number, there is a separate UEI for State of Illinois grants and contracts.

UIS provides services not only to students but also to support our employees so they can perform optimally, both physically and mentally.

Dear UIS Students and Colleagues:

Two years ago, as the COVID-19 pandemic began to take hold of our world, we found ourselves experiencing a newfound sense of uncertainty, faced with decisions we had never before imagined making. Over a rapidly changing and very abbreviated period of time in March 2020, UIS leaders recognized the need to complete the semester remotely and asked anyone who could stay home to do so. By late March, a very small number of individuals continued to live or work on campus.

Greetings Past Commencement Volunteers,

Commencement time is quickly approaching and, once again, I am looking for volunteers to help us make this year’s Commencement memorable for our students.  We are heading back down to the BOS Center for two ceremonies this year at 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.  so we are going to need a bit of additional help,  more so then we have needed in the last two years. We have an excited class of graduates, looking forward to celebrating with their family and friends.
