The University of Illinois Springfield prepares the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report and includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on the Springfield and Peoria Center campuses.
A Campus Security Authority (CSA) is a student, employee, volunteer, or an individual contracted by the University who is mandated to report Clery Act qualifying crimes that occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the university.
The Victims of Trafficking and Violence Act of 2000 requires colleges and universities to inform students and employees how to learn the identity of registered sex offenders on campus. This law contains the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act which becomes effective October 23, 2002.

Road conditions in Sangamon County remained hazardous Thursday as Winter Storm Landon continued to dump snow on the area. More than 11 inches had fallen by Thursday afternoon.
The storm particularly created havoc with government and travel by car, train and plane.
Local highways continued to be called hazardous by police. They urged residents only to drive in case of an emergency.
