What does this mean?
On December 13, 2022, UIS will be implementing 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) to better protect both you and the university from unauthorized access to your personal data stored in the university's enterprise systems. UIS will be requiring a second layer of security to access your University account making it difficult for an unauthorized person to access your information. 2FA provides better account protection than merely using a password.
On December 6 at approximately 10 a.m., the UIS Police Department will be conducting a test of the Rave text message system in conjunction with the monthly tornado siren test. We will follow up the test with a brief survey (no longer than 12 questions) to help evaluate the effectiveness of the tornado sirens and the Rave text message system. We would appreciate your participation to help identify areas we need to improve.

On Sunday, December 4 from 6:00 am - 6:00 pm, Administrative Information Technology Services (AITS) will be performing mandatory quarterly maintenance on all production Solaris and Linux servers. This maintenance necessitates Banner and related applications to be unavailable during this timeframe.

Due to the changes yesterday as a result of the cybersecurity incident, connecting to the VPN now requires 2FA. The login screen askes for a 2nd password.
The 2nd Password field is for two-factor authentication (2FA). In this field you will type the option below that aligns with how you authenticate with Duo Mobile for 2FA.
UIS experienced a cybersecurity incident this week. While this incident was caught quickly and intervention took place immediately, we are acting in an abundance of caution and requiring that all UIS users reset their passwords. Please do so within the next 24 hours. After Friday, November 18 at 3pm CST, we will expire passwords for any user who has not yet reset their password and they will be forced to reset their password before they can login to any service.
