UIS experienced a cybersecurity incident this week. While this incident was caught quickly and intervention took place immediately, we are acting in an abundance of caution and requiring that all UIS users reset their passwords. Please do so within the next 24 hours. After Friday, November 18 at 3pm CST, we will expire passwords for any user who has not yet reset their password and they will be forced to reset their password before they can login to any service.

Because incidents like this can have far-reaching effects, this action allows us to safeguard everyone's account. Our UIS team has been working around the clock with a security vendor to mitigate any impact. In an effort to employ all efforts in protecting the campus, please go to http://go.uis.edu/password and click Change Password before Friday at 3pm.

In addition to required password resets, we are also taking two additional actions to protect our accounts. Effective TODAY:

  • VPN access will be required to connect to Citrix
  • All VPN and Citrix connections will require two-factor authentication (2FA)

For more information on how to reset your password, install and connect to the VPN, and to sign up for 2FA, please see https://www.uis.edu/its/it-security/cybersecurity-incident-response.

If you have any questions, or any trouble resetting your password, connecting to the VPN, or signing up for 2FA, please reach out to ITS Client Services at techsupport@uis.edu or 217/206-6000.

ITS Client Services is ready and available to support you with these changes. We appreciate your prompt action in protecting our campus.
