The Chancellor’s Cabinet is establishing a new opportunity for the university community to comment on proposed university-level policies or significant policy revisions. For at least two weeks prior to taking final action on a proposed policy or significant policy revision, the draft policy will be made available to view online along with a comment form.

For departments that want to offer programs to minors (persons under the age of eighteen (18), our Protection of Minors page has detailed information on planning and hosting an event for young visitors.

On April 19, 2024, the U.S. Department of Education issued new Title IX regulations. At UIS, the Access & Equity Office (“AEO”) coordinates the implementation of human and civil rights laws, including Title IX. As your Title IX Coordinator, I am reaching out today to outline what our next steps will be in response to these regulations, as well as to assure you of our ongoing commitment to fostering an environment free from all forms of sexual violence, harassment, and discrimination.

UHB Hot Water Heating Repairs: Repairs to the UHB hot water heating system are planned for the week of May 13. There will be no interruption to the domestic water system (drinking fountains, sinks, and toilets). During this time, you may notice ladders, tools, and equipment in the hallways and common areas, as well as the temporary removal of ceiling tiles to facilitate access to the piping system.
The State Department of Central Management Services (CMS) has announced that the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Benefit Choice enrollment period will begin May 1 and end May 31, 2024.
If you do not want to change health, dental, life or dependent coverage, your current elections will continue. Note: You must enroll or re-enroll in Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts each year.
The arena in TRAC will be closed for a refinish and repaint job beginning Monday, April 29 until Wednesday, May 29. This is completed approximately every ten years.
The rest of the facility will remain open as normal.

The Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) has mandated that all public institutions of higher learning write an equity plan, which is due in May. Dr. Tena Helton is heading this effort for the UIS campus.
Dr. Helton and the UIS Equity Planning Taskforce invite the campus community to attend an open forum to review the 2024 UIS Equity Plan. Two forums will be held:
Earlier today, the message below was sent to participating students' UIS email regarding this year’s commencement ceremonies on May 10 and 11. This notice is being included on Orbit for employees in the event that you receive questions from students. Additional information will be sent in the coming weeks to participating faculty and platform party members. Please address any questions or concerns to commencement@uis.edu.
Please be aware that Parking Lot E will be closed from early morning through 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 17, so that school children may safely enter the UIS Performing Arts Center for an event.
