Dear Campus Community,
Facilities and Services will be overseeing the inspection and testing of the fire alarm system in PAC on Tuesday, January 7. The alarm horns and the strobe lights will be activated intermittently as part of the test procedures to ensure all components of the system are working properly. Please note: You should not ignore any alarms sounding outside this schedule or alarms that sound for a prolonged length of time.
The next Civil Service Advisory Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 8 , at 10 a.m. via Zoom. All Civil Service employees are welcome to attend.
Due to winter weather conditions, we are providing an update regarding campus operations.
Information for Employees
The Liberal Leave Policy will be in effect on Monday, Jan. 6. Employees are advised to use their discretion when determining whether it is safe to commute to and from work in inclement weather.
Dear Colleagues,
The Springfield area is forecasted to receive its first significant snowfall Sunday through Monday. The university does not anticipate any changes to campus operations; however, this is the time of year to reacclimate ourselves with UIS’ inclement weather procedures.
As a matter of policy, UIS does not close due to inclement weather except under the most extraordinary conditions. However, periods of inclement weather often result in conditions that make travel difficult and at times hazardous.

Dear Colleagues –
I am writing to share important information about an essential plumbing infrastructure project that will temporarily affect the Public Affairs Center (PAC) and related operations for nearly two years. Please share this information with your teams, and watch for future updates in the Chancellor’s biweekly UIS Update e-newsletter and Orbit.
