Dear University Community,
Negotiations with the union representing tenured and tenure-track faculty are ongoing. Today, the University met with the union for eight hours and reached one tentative agreement on professional development. The University presented multiple package proposals, including on compensation, which remains one of the central issues in negotiations. Salaries make up the largest part of the university income fund budget and significantly impact the University’s financial position.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8.

Dear UIS Community:
The University has been diligent in negotiations with the labor union that represents tenured and tenure-track faculty, and another mediation session is scheduled for this afternoon. We are willing and able to stay at the table as long as possible today to reach an agreement without disruption to our teaching and learning community. The University will continue to offer additional dates and times to meet with the union and is hopeful that the parties can come to an agreement that serves the best interests of our entire university community.

Dear Students and Colleagues:
The University has learned that the UIS United Faculty has formally filed a Notice of Intent to Strike with the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board, as they indicated they would do yesterday when announcing their strike-authorization vote. While this action means that the union can opt to strike any time after a 10-day waiting period, which we believe to be no sooner than May 2, it does not mean that a strike will occur.
