Dear University Community,

Negotiations with the union representing tenured and tenure-track faculty are ongoing. Today, the University met with the union for eight hours and reached one tentative agreement on professional development. The University presented multiple package proposals, including on compensation, which remains one of the central issues in negotiations. Salaries make up the largest part of the university income fund budget and significantly impact the University’s financial position.

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8.

It is our understanding that some members of the union will continue to engage in a work stoppage. We encourage students to continue attending classes unless you have been notified that they have been canceled. It is the University’s expectation that classes taught by faculty who are not members of this union will proceed as scheduled. In addition, some faculty who are members of this union may opt not to participate in a work stoppage.

Please continue to check the bargaining website for the latest information on the status of negotiations.

We will provide additional updates as needed.
