The Role of Campus Recreation at UIS
The primary role of Campus Recreation is to support the academic mission of the University of Illinois Springfield. Campus Recreation provides quality service to students and employees while contributing to the holistic development of the individual. Our work involves processes and programs that seek to be intentional in nature and action.
Sustainability, health and wellness, keeping communities connected and space on campus are all issues that get the attention of college leaders as they plan for the future. And they can all be connected in a roundabout way through one simple, fun vehicle that can breathe surprising life into campuses: the bicycle.
Stair climbers commemorated 9/11 in a literal way Saturday.
The climbers, among them those too young to remember first-hand the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center in New York, The Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and a plane that crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, made their way up flights of stairs at the Crowne Plaza hotel to mark the revered day and to honor the first responders who climbed the steps of the World Trade Center that morning to rescue the injured.
The University of Illinois Springfield Department of Campus Recreation will host a 9/11 memorial stair climb at Crowne Plaza Springfield to mark the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington, D.C. and outside of Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The University of Illinois Springfield Department of Campus Recreation will host a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at the Crowne Plaza Springfield, located at 3000 S.
