I am thrilled to share that we are offering faculty and staff the opportunity to attend another on-campus Professional Development Retreat as part of our Rise initiative. This semester’s retreat will take place Friday, March 1, and is focused on Redefining Workplace Culture.

UIS Commencement is 100 days away, and our Commencement Committee is hard at work planning this year’s ceremonies, slated for May 10 and 11.
This year’s ceremonies will take place on campus in the UIS Performing Arts Center. To accommodate as many guests as possible for our graduates, we will be holding three ceremonies:

Dear Students:
On Tuesday evening, Jan. 30, I will be co-hosting an information session for students with the Student Government Association, and I hope you can attend. The session will include brief UIS updates from me and SGA President Emmanuelle Yakana, and we will have several members of the UIS leadership team present to address student questions. Areas represented will include Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Enrollment and Facilities/Services.

And what a Monday it is. Due to icy conditions, in-person classes have been canceled today, and the Liberal Leave Policy is in effect. Many employees are working remotely today, so please check with departments ahead of time before planning to visit in person. Please note that Food Service is in operation today but may have limited options.
My sincere thanks to the employees who are working hard to keep campus warm and safe today.

I hope everyone had a well-deserved, relaxing break with friends and family. The holiday season is a time to unwind and reflect on our accomplishments from last year and look forward to our goals in the new year. As we dive into 2024, let's continue to focus on student success, foster a positive and collaborative work environment, support each other's growth and embrace the exciting projects and initiatives that await us.

It’s finals week, which means we’re nearing the close of a wonderful semester. In fact, we’re celebrating our summer and fall graduates today with refreshments 3-5 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. Our Fall Employee Information Session is TODAY from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in Brookens Auditorium. This session will focus on budget and enrollment, with presentations by Drs. Ken Kriz and Vickie Cook. Following the presentations, we will answer audience questions.
