Dear faculty, staff and students,
I am pleased to share that the University of Illinois System’s Mental Health Awareness and Support website now offers new Mental Health Self-assessment Tools available to all members of our university community.
These evidence-based behavioral health screening tools provide a quick and anonymous way to reflect on whether you may be experiencing symptoms associated with common mental health conditions, including:
- Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Alcohol Use Disorder
- Anxiety Disorder
- Bipolar Disorder
- Depression
- Eating Disorders
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Substance Use Disorder
Each self-assessment is grounded in research-validated screening tools designed to help identify potential symptoms of a mental health condition. While these assessments do not provide a clinical diagnosis, they can offer helpful insight, support you in deciding whether to seek care from a mental health professional, and connect you with resources available through the university.
We are sharing these tools because empathy and care for one another are essential to a healthy campus community. By making it easier for individuals to check in with their own well-being, we hope to encourage self-awareness, reduce stigma and remind every member of our community that support is available and seeking help is a sign of strength. Thank you for helping us build a community where well-being and CARE are shared priorities.
Sincerely,
Janet
