Annual Evaluations
The University of Illinois Springfield Office of the Provost, in conjunction with the Campus Senate Committee on the Assessment of Student Learning, is pleased to announce that five faculty projects will be receiving program assessment grants for the 2023-2024 academic year. This grant program, which is in its inaugural year, is designed to promote best practices in program-level assessment of student learning outcomes.
UIS employees honored with CAPE and CARE awards
Two University of Illinois Springfield employees were honored with Chancellor’s awards recognizing academic professional and civil service excellence during a ceremony in the Student Union Ballroom on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
UIS and Innovate Springfield to host a keynote speech and panel discussion on “The Current State of AI”
WHAT: The University of Illinois Springfield and Innovate Springfield will host Doug Hamilton, head of artificial intelligence (AI) research at Nasdaq and a UIS alum, for a keynote speech on “The Current State of AI.” His speech will be followed by a panel discussion on the topic with UIS and outside experts.

UIS Student Technology, Arts & Research Symposium to showcase research, creativity and innovation
WHAT: The University of Illinois Springfield presents the 12th annual Student Technology, Arts & Research Symposium (STARS). The three-day event showcases student research and creative activities during the academic year. Events are free and open to the public.
WHEN: 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12
5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 (online only)

UIS honors Associate Professor Jennifer Martin with the Harry and Deborah Berman Sabbatical Award
The University of Illinois Springfield’s Harry and Deborah Berman Sabbatical Award has been presented to Jennifer Martin, associate professor in the School of Education. She will receive $3,000 to support her research during her sabbatical leave.
The UIS Staff and Faculty Volunteer Initiative Committee would like to thank those who filled out the volunteer interest survey this past February. This provided us with valuable information to gauge interest in volunteer initiatives.
We encourage you to participate on the UIS team for the United Way Day of Action on Friday, April 28, from 1-4 p.m. Register by Friday, April 7, to ensure your spot on the UIS team.
