The University of Illinois Springfield will host six Engaged Citizenship Common Experience (ECCE) Speaker Series events during Fall Semester 2024. The series presents events that promote and adhere to the value of engaged citizenship, cultural awareness and respect for diversity.

The University of Illinois Springfield’s popular Friday Night Star Parties will resume the Friday after Labor Day and run through the end of October. The dates are Sept. 6, 13, 20, 27 and Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Friday Night Star Parties are held from 8 to 10 p.m., weather permitting, at the UIS Observatory on the roof of Brookens Library.
WHAT: Innovate Springfield, the University of Illinois Springfield’s business incubator, has teamed up with the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, NPR Illinois, Sangamon CEO, Illinois Ventures and iVenturED to present the speaker series event “Founders, Failures and Fun.”

In July 2024, COLRS partnered with Human Resources to present the App Café for the Rise Employment Development series. This was a come-and-go opportunity to have a little fun learning about new apps that colleagues across UIS use for productivity, fun, lifestyle, hobbies, finance, and news/reading.

WHAT: The University of Illinois Springfield’s Sangamon Experience will host a panel discussion titled “Echoes of Change: Central Illinois Journalism and Social Justice in the 1980s.” Co-sponsored by NPR Illinois, the event will explore the impact of local journalism during this transformative era.

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery presents “Inter | Action,” a group exhibition featuring works by an all-women roster of five visual arts students as they prepare to transition from student artists to emerging professionals.
WHAT: The University of Illinois Springfield and Lincoln Land Community College are excited to announce the 2024 Career Connections Expo. Students and alumni from the hosting institutions, as well as community members, are invited to attend the free event to explore career opportunities and network with participating employers.
WHAT: The University of Illinois Springfield will host an eclipse watch party. While Springfield won't witness the total eclipse, the sun is projected to be approximately 96% obscured by the moon at 2:02 p.m., offering an exciting celestial spectacle for central Illinois, weather permitting.

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present “Junk Drawer,” an exhibition by Champaign-based artist Guen Montgomery. “Junk Drawer” will open on Monday, March 18 and run through Thursday, April 11.
