Dear Campus Community,
Collective bargaining discussions with the union representing tenured and tenure-track faculty are ongoing. Today, the university met with the union for 4 ½ hours, offering several different packages to the union. Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7. It is our understanding that some members of the union will continue engaging in a work stoppage.
Students — it is important to continue attending your classes unless you have been notified that they have been canceled. It is the University’s expectation that classes taught by faculty who are not a member of this union will proceed as scheduled. In addition, some faculty members who are members of this union may opt not to participate in a work stoppage. We encourage all students to continue to keep up with the readings and assignments on your course syllabi for all classes. Please continue to check the bargaining website for the latest information on the status of negotiations.
The University is committed to continued good-faith negotiations to reach a fiscally responsible contract agreement that is in the best interest of our entire campus community.
We will provide additional updates as needed.
