American Sign Language interpreters and Interpretype Communication devices are available for UIS classroom and lab requirements and any other required class activity. Documentation of deafness or hearing impairment must be provided to the Disability Specialist in the Office of Disability Services, before interpreting or transcribing services will be provided.
Students should continue to provide their Disability Specialist with their schedule each semester as soon as they have registered. This will ensure consistent services and contribute to each student’s continuous academic success. If students adhere to all of the following guidelines, interpreting services can be consistently provided during enrollment at University of Illinois Springfield. All requests for an interpreter must be approved by a student’s Disability Specialist.
