Credit Transfer

Courses in the Capital Scholars Honors Program are approved for transfer credit through the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI). The Illinois Board of Higher Education initiated the IAI to facilitate the transferability of courses among public institutions in Illinois. If you decide to transfer to another Illinois public institution prior to receiving your Baccalaureate degree, the CAP courses will meet general education requirements. To confirm the transfer status of CAP Honors courses, see the IAI website.

The following courses are approved for transfer credit:

  • CAP 111 and CAP 115 meet 6 hours of Communication/Writing Course sequence requirements
  • CAP 122, CAP 123, CAP 225 and CAP 226 meet 6 hours of both Interdisciplinary Humanities and Social/Behavioral Science Requirements
  • CAP 141 and CAP 142 (Biology & Chemistry of the Environment) meet 8 hours of Interdisciplinary Physical and Life Science and Laboratory requirements
  • CAP 102 and CAP 25x/35x transfer as 5 hours of elective credit towards graduation requirements

The CAP Honors Program staff can help students who have concerns or issues with transferring.

The CAP Honors Program also accepts AP and Dual Credit. If you have questions about which courses will transfer into UIS, please contact Karen Barker at 217-206-7251 or via email at kguth01s@uis.edu.
