Our Mission Statement
Continuum, the Capital Scholars Honors Journal, is a showcase of high-quality original research and creative works produced by the Capital Scholars Honors undergraduate students at the University of Illinois Springfield. Submissions include research papers, book reviews, essays, interviews, poetry, fiction, song lyrics, instrumentals, photographs, digital and multimedia compositions and many other mediums. We strongly encourage students to submit works that reflect any scholarly or creative endeavors, especially those which challenge the standards of mainstream thought.
Since the first published volume of Continuum in Fall 2013, the journal has evolved to adopt a more structured, rigorous, and student-driven editing process. Continuum consists of undergraduate students who serve as peer reviewers on the Continuum editorial team. This entails guiding conditionally accepted submitters through revision and resubmission and performing basic copy editing, Our expectation is that these additional steps will serve not only to further increase the quality of the pieces we publish, but also to develop students as writers and artists, and provide them with an authentic peer-reviewed journal submission experience.
