The University of Illinois Music Program presents "Black Classical Composers: A Lecture-Demonstration With Violinist Chenoa Murphy" as part of its First Tuesday Brown Bag Concert Series. The event will take place on Tuesday, September 06, 12pm in the Student Union Ballroom Lobby. It is Free and open to the public.
First Tuesday Brown Bag Concert
Enjoy a free lunchtime concert by musicians of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra! Feel free to bring your lunch, to stay for the entire concert or just for a short while. All are welcome! The concert will take place in the Student Union Ballroom Lobby directly in front of Starbucks.
Solo Competition
The 13th Annual University of Illinois Springfield Music Solo Competition will take place virtually. Application and Video Audition are due by Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025. Participation is open to UIS students and community members, grades 5-12.
Divisions: UIS Division; Senior Division (Grades 9-12); Junior Division (Grades 5-8)
Honor Band Festival
The University of Illinois Springfield High School Honor Band Festival and Concert will resume in 2025. The festival welcomes participation from local and regional high school students that have been approved via the application process.
When: The UIS Honor Band will resume in 2025. Stay tuned!

Eligibility: Local and regional high school students proficient in a band instrument (wind/brass/percussion) are welcome to apply.
