Karen Whitney’s term as interim chancellor to be extended at UIS
University of Illinois System President Tim Killeen announced today that he is recommending that University of Illinois Springfield Interim Chancellor Karen M. Whitney’s appointment be extended by one year.
Whitney, a nationally recognized higher education leader, has served as interim chancellor since June 2020 and will continue in that capacity through June 2022, Killeen said, pending approval of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees at its January meeting.

Help Support a UIS Graduate
Any student, faculty, staff, alumni, or parent can order these license plates. For each original plate issuance, renewal, or transfer of plates, the University will receive $25 for student scholarships.
State and University Employees Combined Appeal
SECA is a once-a-year voluntary campaign that allows state and university employees to donate to the charitable causes of their choice to enhance the quality of life for all. SECA supports 12 federations: America’s Best Charities, America’s Charities, American Cancer Society, Black United Fund, Creating Healthier Communities, Community Shares, EarthShare, Global Impact, Special Olympics, UNCF, and United Way.
