The Illinois Springfield women's cross country team has earned a spot in the NCAA Division II Midwest regional coaches' rankings, released Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This marks the first time in program history that the Prairie Stars have been ranked in the regional coaches' poll.
The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced Tuesday that Illinois Springfield senior Madelyn Miller-Ross has been named the GLVC/Athletic Solutions Women's Runner of the Week in cross country.
The UIS men's golf team is tied for ninth place after the first two rounds of the Midwest Collegiate at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Ind. The 54-hole tournament concludes with a final round on Tuesday.

The Illinois Springfield men's tennis team will continue competing at the ITA Regional in Allendale, Mich. on Monday, after action over Saturday and Sunday. Several Prairie Stars advanced through early rounds in both singles and doubles, setting up key finals and semifinals.
Singles
The Illinois Springfield men's golf team will return to action Monday and Tuesday at the Midwest Collegiate, hosted at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Ind. The Prairie Stars will send a five-player lineup into the event, featuring Sacha Lamraski, Jake Baldin, Julien Babineau, Peyton Woods, and Vilgot Arleback.
The UIS men's soccer team came up short on the road Sunday, dropping a 2-1 match at Southwest Baptist. The loss moves the Prairie Stars to 2-5-1 overall and 1-4-0 in GLVC play.
The Bearcats struck first in the 41st minute when Hugo Lopes scored off an assist from Piotr Rapczynski. UIS responded after halftime, with Robin Lemke Bergseth netting the equalizer in the 60th minute for his third goal of the season. Andrew Synoradzki had the assist.
The Illinois Springfield women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision on the road Sunday at Southwest Baptist. With the loss, UIS sits at 1-4-3 overall and 0-3-2 in the GLVC.
The Bearcats found the back of the net in the 23rd minute when Tamerra Gantt scored off an assist from Annabelle Schuler. That proved to be the difference as the Prairie Stars were unable to convert despite holding a 12-3 edge in total shots and a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal.
