Alumni Rising Star Award

Purpose

The Alumni Rising Star Award is an honor bestowed upon alumni of the University to those graduates aged 35 or younger, or who have graduated within the previous five (5) years. Recognized are alumni who have demonstrated emerging and unique innovation, creativity and success in their chosen career, business or life’s work. 

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present “Gemstones,” a group exhibition that features an accomplished roster of local, regional and national artists that have also served as donors to the gallery. The exhibition will open with a free public reception from 5:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, and will run through Thursday, July 27.

The University of Illinois Springfield honored three alumni for their achievement, service and humanitarianism during the annual UIS Alumni Gala at the UIS Student Union and live streamed via Zoom webinar on Feb. 25, 2022.

On commencement day, it’s typical to want to get photographs to mark the occasion.

But not many people get a photo of themselves with the university’s chancellors and president of the University of Illinois System.

That’s was Christopher Holley’s experience though when he attended the 2020 Commencement Ceremony held Sept. 18 on the UIS campus.

Alumni Student Leadership Award

Purpose

The Student Leadership Award honors exceptional graduating students for their volunteer contributions as leaders of UIS student societies, groups and organizations. Nominees are undergraduate, graduate or doctoral students who received their degree in the most recent summer or fall term, or who are candidates for graduation in the spring term.

Alumni Loyalty Award

Purpose

The Loyalty Award is bestowed upon alumni of the University who have consistently demonstrated exceptional loyalty, commitment, dedication and service to the University for the advancement of its mission.

How to Nominate Someone for the Loyalty Award

Recipients must be nominated for the award. Based on these nominations, the awards committee selects up to 12 recipients per awards presentation cycle. Recipients will receive the award at an Alumni Association or University event.

Alumni Humanitarian Award

Purpose 

The Alumni Humanitarian Award is bestowed upon graduates of the University whose outstanding dedication and leadership has improved or enriched the lives of others and the welfare of humanity. Recipients embody the University’s historic commitment to public service and address the pressing humanitarian needs of our times.
