I am writing to confirm our COVID-19 requirements for Fall 2022. For the past two years, UIS has been United in Safety as we’ve responded to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are most grateful to be out of the emergency phase of the pandemic—thanks to vaccines, rapid testing and therapeutics—and are excited to be ushering in a new academic year later this month.

On June 1, President Killeen announced a 3.5 percent, merit-based salary program for the 2022-2023 academic year.  

Similar to past years, this salary program is to be distributed at the discretion of the unit head. Distribution of the salary increases should be based on merit-based factors, including the employee’s 2022 performance evaluation. Employees will be deemed ineligible for an increase due to one of the following reasons:

I’m honored to follow such a smart and caring leader like Chancellor Whitney, and I’m impressed by all the changes you’ve navigated over the last two years, even in light of the biggest challenges many of us have ever faced. We’re perfectly poised to launch into the next chapter!

I greatly appreciate Dr. Whitney for serving as interim chancellor during such a challenging and transformative time, and for creating a positive momentum that will keep UIS thriving in the years to come.

This is my last email to you as Chancellor, and I must first simply say THANK YOU.

Thank you for the opportunity to lead UIS over the last two years. Thank you for your hard work and commitment to our mission, vision and values — and most of all, to our students. We were not just united in safety, we were united to each other and to our students. This inspired me to work every day to be the best Chancellor I could be for you, the students and our community.
