Illinois Springfield women's basketball (9-11, 6-6 GLVC) defeated Missouri-St. Louis (16-3, 12-1 GLVC), 75-68, at TRAC, limiting the Tritons to just nine points in the second quarter to seize momentum. The Prairie Stars capitalized on turnovers, scoring 20 points off Mo.-St. Louis' 16 turnovers in the conference matchup. This victory marked the first GLVC loss of the season for UMSL, who entered the game with a perfect 12-0 conference record, and were ranked No. 25 nationally.

The UIS men's tennis team opens its spring season this weekend with back-to-back road matches in Ohio against Tiffin and Findlay.

The Prairie Stars begin the weekend on Saturday with a matchup against Tiffin in Tiffin, Ohio, scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT (2:00 p.m. ET). UIS then heads to Findlay, Ohio, for a Sunday morning contest against Findlay at 10:00 a.m. CT (11:00 a.m. ET).

The UIS women's tennis team opens the spring portion of its year this weekend with a pair of road matches in Ohio, beginning Saturday at Tiffin before continuing on Sunday at Findlay.

UIS will face Tiffin on Saturday in Tiffin, Ohio, with first serve scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT (2:00 p.m. ET). The Dragons will be officially opening their season on Saturday, as their last competition came in October at the Wayne State Doubles Tournament.

The UIS women's track and field team was represented by a pair of distance runners Friday evening at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University, with both athletes competing in the open 5,000 meters.

A pair of UIS women's distance runners will take the national stage Friday evening as senior Madelyn Miller-Ross and junior Marissa Roggensack compete at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University.

The meet, one of the premier indoor events of the season, will feature deep, nationally competitive fields. UIS will be represented in the women's 5,000 meters, with heat one scheduled for 5:40 p.m. CT (6:40 p.m. ET).

Neither athlete has raced the 5,000 meters yet this season, but both have opened the year in strong form.
