Enjoy the sounds of the UIS Chorus in the awesome acoustic of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Springfield. The UIS chorus will be joined by the Lincoln Land Community College Chorus. Free and open to the public.
The UIS Jazz Ensemble joins a lineup of local and professional jazz musicians for its own set under the direction of UIS jazz faculty Bill Mitchell. Enjoy the music and the art exhibit on display at the Pharmacy Gallery and Art Space.
UIS Camerata students participate in a masterclass, an open lesson in front of an audience, with a master musician. Catch a glimpse behind the scenes as music students work to improve their technical and musical skill under the direction of a professional musician.
The UIS Music Solo Competition is open to community musicians (grades 5-12) and UIS students. Junior Division: Grades 5-8; Senior Division: Grades 9-12; UIS Division: UIS undergraduate and graduate students. To participate in the competition, fill out the brief application form and submit a video audition. Direct any questions to music@uis.edu.

Rare reunion performance of New York City free jazz duet, Fire & Flux, featuring Ben Kates on saxophone and Richard Gilman-Opalsky on drums, plus in trio with Adam Larison on guitar. Fire & Flux formed over twenty years ago in New York, playing weekly in the South Bronx, performing live throughout New York and New England, and recording their music. Telepathic, high-intensity, jazz improvisation not to be missed.
