Bookstore in the lower level of the PAC Building. Call them at (217) 206-6766 or email them.
We do have classrooms within the library itself.
At the moment, only the big classroom (BRK 232) is in use and available for reservation: Reserve Here. This classroom can be found on the 2nd floor of the library at the far end. If you need help locating this classroom, ask the main desk.
If you're looking for a classroom on the other side of Brookens, or on level 1, we have a FAQ here to help you find those.
Brookens Library has created a research guide for each discipline taught at UIS. These guides are an excellent place to see what resources the Library has available in a particular subject area. Additionally, each research guide provides the contact information of the librarian that specializes in the subject; you can book a consultation with the librarian if further assistance is needed.
Primary sources are the evidence of history, original records or objects created by participants or observers at the time historical events occurred or even well after events, as in memoirs and oral histories. These sources serve as the raw materials historians use to interpret and analyze the past.
Before syllabi become available on canvas, the UIS bookstore is the best place to find out what textbooks you'll be needing.
As long as the professor has released what books they'll be using, it will appear on the bookstore website and you can search for your textbooks using your UIN (where it will give you a list of all the textbooks you need for all your classes), or using the class code/title.
Click on Pages in the left hand column of menu choices and then look for the Page called Library Course Reserves. You will see a standard copyright warning about fair use of the materials; then scroll down to see the links to the materials your professor has placed on reserve. (Remember to create a University Box account if you haven't already done so. You will need the account in order to gain access to many of the items.)
Contact the Office of Financial Assistance Services for information on financial aid, including the FAFSA form, loan refunds, and scholarships.
The Federal Student Aid website has additional resources for navigating student loans.
The Central Illinois Nonprofit Resource Center has many resources to assist nonprofits and patrons in locating grant information.
Our premier resource is the Foundation Directory Online. This resource can be accessed from off campus for users with a NetID and password (UIS students, staff & faculty). For all others, it can only be accessed from on campus.
We don't have laptops available for checkout through the library. However, we have desktops that can be used while in the building. Laptops are available for check out through ITS (located in BRK 180- lower level of the library) for 7 days.
Through the Equipment Check-Out Page, you can find equipment available for UIS students and faculty to check out, checkout procedures, and user responsibilities.
