The Illinois Springfield men's tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule at the Dwight Davis College Open in St. Louis, where weekend rain forced a compressed slate of play. After Saturday's matches were washed out, the Prairie Stars powered through a full day of singles and doubles competition on Sunday to close their fall season on a strong note.

In Flight A, Pablo Herrera fell 6-0, 6-4 in Sunday's quarterfinals against Eric Kuo, while Antonio Ayerbe Streubel dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Shaan Patel.

The UIS men's soccer team fell to McKendree 1-0 on Sunday at Kiwanis Stadium, with McKendree's lone goal coming in the first half.

UIS goalkeeper Landon Amick made a crucial save in the opening minutes to deny McKendree's Alonso Romero Carmona. Gentil Selemani and Spencer Martin each took shots that went wide, as the Prairie Stars sought to find the breakthrough.

The UIS women's soccer team was narrowly defeated by McKendree, 1-0, on Sunday at Kiwanis Stadium.

The first half began with both Illinois Springfield and McKendree settling into their rhythm, as northwestern winds kept much of the play along the bench side of the field. Gigi Yurevich was tested early but made key saves to keep the game level until the 30th minute when McKendree's Maggie Gleckler broke through with a goal, putting the visitors ahead 1-0.

The Illinois Springfield men's golf team continues its fall schedule Monday and Tuesday at McKendree's Bearcat Dual Gender in Caseyville, Ill. The Prairie Stars will compete alongside a field that includes primarily Great Lakes Valley Conference programs.

The men's field consists of Upper Iowa, Lewis, Quincy, Maryville, Rockhurst, McKendree, Kentucky Wesleyan, and UIS.

The Illinois Springfield women's golf team closes out its fall schedule at McKendree's annual Bearcat Dual Gender, held Monday and Tuesday in Caseyville, Illinois.

The event features a competitive field of nine GLVC programs, including Quincy, Maryville, McKendree, Lewis, Rockhurst, Upper Iowa, Missouri-St. Louis and William Jewell, along with regional opponents Wisconsin-Parkside and Kentucky Wesleyan.

UIS will be represented by six players as the Prairie Stars look to carry their recent momentum into the season finale.

UIS volleyball (9-10, 1-5 GLVC) competed in the Midwest Regional Crossover at Hammond Sportsplex over the weekend, finishing 2-1 on the weekend. The Prairie Stars secured a convincing straight-set victory over Kentucky Wesleyan and faced Tiffin, where they fell in four sets.

The UIS women's tennis team opened competition Friday at the Dwight Davis College Open in St. Louis, advancing multiple players in singles play.

In Friday's opening singles rounds, Ema Norma Bordean cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 victory and will face Hallie Jeffers Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Alisha Deogaonkar also advanced with a 6-3, 6-0 win and will meet Amber Edmonds in her next match at 8:30 a.m.

The Illinois Springfield men's tennis team opened play at the Dwight Davis College Open on Friday in St, Louis, advancing five players to the quarterfinals in their respective singles flights.

In Flight A, Pablo Herrera earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Arkhip Tokmakov and will face Eric Kuo on Saturday morning. Antonio Ayerbe Streubel advanced as well, winning 7-5, 5-0 before his opponent retired. He will meet Shaan Patel in his next match on Saturday.

The Illinois Springfield men's soccer team fell 2-1 to Maryville at home on Friday night, despite second-half scoring. The Prairie Stars drop to 2-8-3, 1-7-2 in GLVC play. 

The match began with the UIS establishing a defensive stance, which was highlighted by Landon Amick's save in the 28th minute from a shot by Sebastian Weitlaner. Robin Lemke Bergseth tested the Saints' defense, with two attempts on goal, both saved by Steen Nielsen. Despite these efforts, neither team managed to score in the first half.
