Maddie Miller set a new UIS school record in the outdoor 5,000-meter run on Thursday at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California. Miller ran a personal-best time of 16:27.78, placing 8th out of 24 runners in Heat 1.
With the performance, Miller now holds the UIS records in the indoor 3K and 5K, as well as the outdoor 5K and 10K—solidifying her place at the top of the program's all-time distance leaderboard.
Isaac Cortes recorded a personal-best performance in the men's 5,000-meter run on Thursday morning at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Cal.
Competing in Heat 4 of the event, Cortes placed fifth out of 24 runners with a time of 14:27.56, shaving five seconds off his previous best.
The UIS men's track and field team will close out the regular season this weekend at Indiana State University's Gibson Invitational, held Friday evening and all day Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana.

The Prairie Stars are sending a large group of distance runners, including 12 athletes in the 5,000 meters. In the 1,500 meters, UIS will be represented by Carson Cowling, Nathan DeMarb, Finn Loken, Lucas Naugle, and Noah Tegler.
The Illinois Springfield women's track and field team will head to Indiana State University for the Gibson Invitational this Friday evening and Saturday. The meet marks the conclusion of the regular season for the Prairie Stars.

Norah Wright will return to the 3,000 meter steeplechase this weekend. Emma Leahy, Allison Thompson, and Marissa Roggensack are entered in the 5,000 meter run.
The UIS softball team will host William Jewell for a doubleheader on Friday, starting at noon. The games will serve as Senior Day, where the program will honor its eight seniors in a special post-game recognition ceremony.
Illinois Springfield (25-16, 13-9 GLVC)
Briar Nevills and Ryan Jones represented the UIS men's track and field team on Wednesday during day one of the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Cal.
Nevills competed in the morning heat of the 10,000 meters and placed 6th in his section of 22 runners. He clocked a personal best time of 30:35.76, continuing a strong outdoor season.
Later in the evening, Ryan Jones raced in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing 14th in his heat with a season-best time of 9:37.98.

Jordan Serrahn and Kaleigh Inniss opened competition for the UIS women's track and field team at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Cal., on Wednesday.
The two distance runners competed in the first heat of the 10,000 meters during the morning session. Inniss placed 14th with a time of 36:51.01, followed by Serrahn in 37:16.48. Both marks are season bests for the runners.
The UIS softball team has been included among the 10 programs under consideration in the first release of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings, published Wednesday on NCAA.com.
This initial release presents teams in alphabetical order, with ranked listings to follow in subsequent editions. The Prairie Stars hold a 25-16 overall record and are 25-14 in regional play.
The UIS baseball team will host Rockhurst in its final home series of the regular season this week, with an adjusted schedule due to forecasted weather. The Prairie Stars and Hawks will now play doubleheaders at 12:00 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday at the UIS Baseball Field. Senior Day recognition will take place following the conclusion of Friday's second game.

The UIS baseball team has adjusted its upcoming home series against Rockhurst. Originally scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, the series will now feature 12:00 p.m. doubleheaders on Thursday and Friday at the UIS Baseball Field.
At the conclusion of Friday's second game, UIS will honor its senior student-athletes in a special postgame ceremony. Fans are encouraged to attend and celebrate the accomplishments of the senior class.
