Please join us on March 13, 2025 to celebrate this year's CARE and CAPE Award nominees and hear the chancellor announce the award winners. The Chancellor’s Award Recognizing Excellence in Civil Service (CARE) and the Chancellor’s Academic Professional Excellence Award (CAPE) have been awarded annually at UIS for the past 18 and 22 years. Each year, we receive nominations highlighting members of our campus community who consistently go above and beyond their duties and truly exemplify excellence. We will also announce the winners of the Nova, Orion, Polaris, and Sirius Awards.
The Employee of the Year (EOY) Program recognizes employees who have served UIS in an exceptional manner. Please join us at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 30 in the Student Union Ballroom as we celebrate our 2024 Employees of the Month and announce the Employee of the Year.

Please join us for the next installment of the monthly Employee Development Series: Soft Skills, A Panel Discussion. It’s not only technical expertise that makes an employee great, but the personal attributes that also allow for effective interaction are equally important. Communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management are all examples of soft skills that are hard to measure but have a significant impact in the workplace.
The UIS Police Department provides training presentations on ways to minimize your risk during an active shooter / active threat incident. The next class will be on Wednesday, October 23, at 10:00 am in Brookens Auditorium. The presentation will be approximately 1 hour in length.
On Oct. 16, join Chancellor Gooch, Vice Chancellor Vickie Cook and Vice Chancellor Ken Kriz at 3 p.m. in Brookens Auditorium for updates about university priorities for the coming year with a Q and A at the end of the session.

The Cox Children’s Center and the Volunteer and Civic Engagement Center are once again hosting Trunk or Treat for Canned Goods. Please sign up to participate in this year’s event which is being held on Friday, October 25, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Set up will begin as early as 8 a.m.
