Two presentations locally this coming week will explore the conflict in Ukraine.

The University of Illinois Springfield will host a webinar panel discussion “Understanding What's Happening and Why” with three faculty experts followed by a question-and-answer session at noon Wednesday.

The UIS Zoom webinar will include faculty experts Sibel Oktay, associate professor of political science and global studies, and Heather Bailey, professor of history.

The guest speaker will be Nik Ford, instructor of political science and international studies at the University of Tampa.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Alan (AJ) Simmons, research director at the UIS Center for State Policy and Leadership, with an opening message from UIS interim chancellor Karen Whitney.

The webinar is designed to be the first in a series of presentations planned by the university on addressing important topics related to the war in Ukraine.
