The Illinois Springfield women's golf team wrapped up its 2024-25 season on Wednesday at the NCAA Division II East Regional, finishing 17th out of 18 teams. Elaine Grant led the Prairie Stars individually, tying for 11th overall.

The day began with tight competition around the top five teams—positions that would ultimately decide both team qualifiers and which individuals not on advancing teams would earn bids to nationals.

Indianapolis made an early move from sixth to fifth, temporarily bumping Wayne State down the standings. That shift favored Elaine Grant, who was tied with Wayne State's top individual and behind two UIndy golfers. If UIndy finished outside the top five, their players could block Grant from qualifying.

As scores came in, UIndy and Wayne State traded spots, while UMSL remained close. Late in the round, Grant was still trailing two UIndy players and one from UMSL. With most top teams still on the course due to later tee times, Grant posted her final round and waited.

Wayne State's top golfer eventually surged into third place individually, while UIndy and UMSL settled into the final two qualifying team spots. Wayne State dropped to sixth, knocking their golfers out of team qualification—and sending their top individual to nationals. With Tiffin's top golfer climbing into fifth, the two individual bids went to the players from Wayne State and Tiffin, narrowly edging out Grant.
