The UIS men's track and field team is set to compete at Bellarmine's Jim Vargo Invitational in Louisville this weekend, with events kicking off at 4:15 p.m. Central on Friday and continuing at 11:00 a.m. Central on Saturday.

The competition will begin Friday with Aidan Donohue, Isaac Cortes, and Gabe Martinez in the invitational heats of the 1500 meters. Following those, the invitational heats of the 5,000 meters and the only heat of the 10,000 meters will showcase a significant portion of the UIS roster.
On Saturday, Ryan Jones will race in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Cortes, Martinez, and Donohue will compete in the 800 meters, while Lucas Naugle will look to improve upon his 1500-meter debut time from the Millikin Big Blue Alumni Classic.
GLVC Standings
Ryan Jones is ranked No. 7 in the GLVC in the 800 meters and No. 8 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase after the opening weekend.
In the 5,000 meters, Aidan Donohue and Dom Cantarini are currently ranked 13th and 15th, respectively. UIS is particularly strong in the 10,000 meters, where it has six athletes in the top-10 and 11 in the top-24.
This season, the GLVC conference championship will feature 24 athletes per event, expanded from 18, based on the season's performance list. Athletes will have the full regular season to qualify for a top-24 spot and secure a place in the conference meet.
