Art & Artifact Loan Program Announcement:

Artworks in the Art & Artifacts Collection at the University of Illinois Springfield, including two-dimensional, three-dimensional, decorative arts, and miscellaneous objects, are being offered to faculty and staff through an intra-campus loan program for display in your office (for a period of two years, after which time there may be the option to renew)!

You can view the collection on its website https://uisartcollection.omeka.net (generously supported by the Library). To see what is available, hit the dark blue button with three dots on it next to the search magnifying icon. Select Advanced Search (items only) and in the search for keywords box type: available for loan. This will show you all the items currently available for loan (some are already on loan and others live in a permanent location).

To borrow a work of art, email Director of Visual Arts Brytton Bjorngaard, bbjor2@uis.edu, with the citation from the collection site for the work you are interested in found at the bottom of the item page, example: George Colin, “[Untitled],” UIS Art & Artifacts Collection, accessed September 8, 2022, https://uisartcollection.omeka.net/items/show/604.” If it is still available, you will be sent a loan form to complete. You will need to have your supervisor/chair sign the form and a CFOPAL will need to be provided to cover the Facilities Charges for hanging the work.

The committee votes to add work to the collection a few times a year, thanks to generous donors, so check back later to see if new things are available. If you already have art in your office or in the hallway of your suite and you would like it removed, we can see if it is part of the collection and have it taken down and returned to us for someone else to check out.

Reach out to Co-Chairs Brytton Bjorngaard, Director of Visual Arts, & Lisa Whelpey, Associate Vice Chancellor for Development, if you have any questions.
