Push notifications are intentionally limited to avoid notification fatigue. Most requests will be redirected to other platforms such as UIS Connection, myUIconnect, Canvas, or the UIS website if they are a better fit.

Is this an event?

Yes

If your event is:

Primarily intended for students → Yes → Post to UIS Connections (Student events only)
For other audiences → Yes → Add Event to the uis.edu (Must have website editing access)

Is this a short campus notice or reminder for students (formerly a Campus Announcement)?

(e.g., Library hour updates, reminders of upcoming event, etc.)

For employee campus announcements, create a news article and tag the news category as Orbit - Campus Announcement.

Time‑sensitive academic impacts (e.g., university-wide class cancellations, critical deadlines, etc.)
Major university service disruptions
Urgent billing or financial aid deadlines
Institution‑wide notices that require immediate awareness

UIS Mobile push notifications are NOT appropriate for:

Event promotion
Multi‑day or recurring announcements
Unit news or newsletters or general updates
Information better suited for Canvas, UIS Connection, or the website
