Grover Thompson, who was wrongfully convicted and died in prison, became the first posthumous exoneration to occur in Illinois.

Jeromè Holston MPA ’13 is the statewide director for the LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Illinois. He says the MPA program exposed him to “a diverse group of students and community leaders who are champions of change.” Being able to make connections and build relationships with others has helped him overcome obstacles throughout his career.
 

Ashley Thompson MPA ’14 is an Education Navigator at the Chicago Housing Authority. She says UIS prepared her by “providing supportive spaces through academics and internships.” Ashley was able to learn and reflect about her career interests in serving low-income communities, while also developing memorable and supportive friendships with classmates.
