Three Minute Hug Film Screening

As part of Hispanic/Latinx/e Heritage Month, the Diversity Centers and The Immigration Project are co-hosting a community film screening and discussion of Three Minute Hug. This short documentary highlights the powerful reunions of families divided by the U.S.–Mexico border, sparking conversation about migration, belonging, and community.

Alternative Prom 2025

Join us for our alternative and inclusionary prom event where everyone is encouraged to express themselves freely and authentically. On this special day is all about free to wear whatever makes you feel confident and happy, whether it's traditional prom attire, a bold costume, or your normal everday attire. This event is a judgment-free zone where everyone is welcome to be themselves and have a great time.

Women of Color Tuesdays is a weekly series that centers the voices, experiences, and brilliance of women of color and allied communities. Open to all students, this space fosters connection, reflection, and dialogue around identity, culture, leadership, and wellness. Each session offers a welcoming environment for learning, listening, and building solidarity across communities. Whether you identify as a woman of color or are seeking to be in community and learn in meaningful ways, you are invited to join us.

Cards and Conversations

Cards & Conversations is a recurring program hosted by the Men of Color Initiative that centers the experiences, leadership, and voices of men of color. Open to all students, this space blends casual connection with meaningful dialogue through games like spades, dominoes, and card games—paired with authentic conversations about identity, community, and personal growth. Whether you're looking to unwind, build relationships, or engage in real talk, all are welcome to pull up a chair and join the conversation. Open to all UIS students and faculty.

HLHM Feminist Friday: Mujeres Importantes

Join us for our recurring event series, Feminist Friday! This series will have a variety of themes and activities, all of which are connected to past or present topics on advancing gender equity. These are open to ALL UIS students, faculty, and staff. This event will take place in the Women's Center Lounge in the Student Life Building Suite 15 (the legacy side of campus). We will have light snacks and refreshments, as well as a raffle! Feminist Fridays for Fall 2025 will be hosted from 3pm-5pm on October 3rd, October 17th, October 31st, and November 14th.

DiversiTea: ¿Quien es José Sarria?

Join us for our weekly LGBTea social gatherings at GSSS in the Diversity Center (SLB 22 - Legacy Campus) on Thursdays from 4PM-6PM for Fall 2025. LGBTea offers a comfortable, accepting, and non-judgmental social atmosphere for students with marginalized gender and/or sexual identities and allied peers. Students hang out, watch movies, listen to music, make plans for the weekend, and play games (Just to name a few!). We will have light snacks and refreshments and a raffle!
