The UIS men's soccer team (3-11-3, 2-10-2) secured a 2-1 victory over Upper Iowa (4-11-2, 3-9-2) on the road on Sunday, with the winning goal coming in the second half of the final game of the season.
The UIS women's soccer team (5-9-3, 4-8-2 GLVC) fell to Upper Iowa (4-12-2, 2-11-1 GLVC) on Sunday, 1-0. Despite outshooting the Peacocks 13-7 and putting nine shots on goal, the Prairie Stars were unable to break through.
The Quincy Hawks (18-5, 7-2 GLVC) defeated the UIS Prairie Stars (11-11, 3-6 GLVC) in four sets on Saturday at TRAC, with scores of 25-20, 26-28, 25-18, and 25-15. The Prairie Stars' defense recorded 82 digs, but it was not enough to overcome Quincy's offensive performance.
UIS men's soccer fell 2-0 to Lewis on Friday night at in Romeoville, Ill.
The Flyers took the lead in the 15th minute after UIS goalkeeper Edoardo Pinna was called for a foul in the box, leading to a penalty kick that Mikey Revell converted for the opening goal. Lewis doubled its advantage just six minutes later when Jaden Jaime finished off a pass from Revell to make it 2-0.
UIS women's soccer battled through steady pressure and late rain to defeat Lewis 2-1 on Friday night in Romeoville. Goalkeeper Gigi Yurevich led the way with five saves.
The Prairie Stars struck first in the 17th minute when Addison Wittenberg buried a solo effort to put UIS on top. Lewis pressed for an equalizer with several shots and corners throughout the half, but Yurevich made key stops to keep the lead intact, including a sharp save around the 60-minute mark. UIS held a 1-0 advantage at the break.
